We will miss Fred greatly. He’s been a good friend and a big part of our lives for 25 years. We will miss his ready laugh, his long talk-about-everything phone calls and random games of Guess the Lyrics. Sending our condolences. He was truly one of a kind.

I have known Fred since we met at the radio station of the University of Surrey in 1988. Although our mutual radio careers took us to many different areas of the country, we always stayed in touch. I will always be grateful to Fred for opening the door for me in order to work at BBC Southern Counties, snd thereby a string of other BBC local radio stations. We also had Fanborough College of Technology in common, where I'd been a student and my father was Vice Principal. We spent many hours on the phone putting to right the world of radio. We only spoke a few weeks ago, and he seemed fine. I was devastated to hear of his passing, and wish I could be there at the Church of the Holy Rosary to say goodbye to him properly. Rest well, my friend.
