James Noel McNicholas (better known as Noel) Cloonaghmore, Ballyheane, Castlebar

on 6th May 2026, peacefully at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar.

Noel McNicholasPredeceased by his father Joe and mother Annie (née O’Dea), his brothers Paddy (U.K) and Frank (Castlebar) and his sister Clara (New Jersey, USA).

He will be sadly missed and forever loved by his heartbroken wife Mary (née Sweeney Ballycroy), daughter Alvina (Ballyheane), his sons Gary (Cogaula, Westport) and Noel (Christ Church, New Zealand), his cherished grandchildren Emma,  Nathan,  Zoey,  Oisin,  Fionn,  Katie and Jack, his son-in-law Martin Staunton, his daughters-in-law Fiona (Cogaula) and Claire (New Zealand), his twin-sister Christine Joyce (Mountgordon, Castlebar) and his sister Una McLoughlin (New York), his brothers John (New York), Ollie (New York), Joe (Kinturk,  Ballyheane) and Richard (Rocklands, Castlebar), his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, God-daughters Karen and Fiona, his cousins, nieces, nephews, close neighbours, relatives and friends.

May he rest in peace.

Noel will repose in Ballyheane Community Centre on Sunday, 10th May from 6.00pm with prayers at 8.00pm.

The funeral will arrive to St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyheane on Monday, 11th May at 11.00 am for Funeral Mass at 11.30am.

Afterwards Noel will be laid to rest in Ballyheane Cemetery.
